IMAGES OF WOMEN: AN ANTHOLOGY OF POETRY

SUBMISSIONS are invited from women poets for this 200-250 pp anthology. It will be partly funded by the Arts Council and published in 2006 by the Second Light Network.
The editors are looking for poems, which offer fresh and illuminating insights into specific aspects of womanhood and for work by new writers as well as established poets. Subjects will include historical, legendary or living women, women's experience of work, war, creativity, relationships, their bodies, youth, childbearing, illness, ageing, the treatment of women, their roles, status, etc. Poems can be serious or amusing and in any form.
Poems must be in English and not translations. They may be published or unpublished. There is no length limit and any number of poems may be submitted for a nominal handling charge of £3.00. Scripts cannot be returned.
Please submit between June 1st and September 1st TWO COPIES of each poem. Include your name and poem title on each page, number and staple together pages of poems longer than one page. Poems must be listed clearly with any publication details on a separate sheet, which should bear your name, and be attached to the form overleaf. You will be notified by January 2006 if work of yours has been selected. Payment for original work will be a complimentary copy of the book.
Other Submissions
The editors also invite you to send in poems by living women poets published in books. Please send two copies of each poem. These poems should also be listed on the separate sheet of paper together with the name of the poet, book title, the number of the page the poem appears on, the publisher and date of publication.
*Second Light is a network of 350 women poets, which has already been involved in publishing three anthologies: Parents (with Enitharmon 2000), Making Worlds (with Headland 2003) and Four Caves of the Heart (solo publication 2004).
